On trial for double rape

A 21-year-old government employee is on trial for raping two Filipina women – one on Christmas Day last year. The Emirati is alleged to have carried out the attacks within the space of two days after luring them into his car while pretending to be a serving police officer in Dubai.

In both cases the women were driven into the desert and raped, the Court of First Instance heard. He is also accused of robbing the women of cash and their mobile phones. The accused, who is facing two separate trials, denies both attacks.The accused’s lawyer has asked judges for his client to be sent to hospital to undergo a medical examination before more evidence was heard.
