524 grams of heroin recovered from dead man’s body
As many as 40 capsules containing crude heroin weighing 524 grams were recovered from the stomach of the 32-year-old Pakistani national whose decomposed body was found in a Sharjah hotel room on January 30.
According to police, Nazeer Al Deen Mazhar had arrived at Dubai International Airport on January 26 on a visit visa and checked into a hotel in Sharjah. He managed to smuggle the drug into the country by swallowing the capsules.
According to Brig. Abdulla Ghader Al Amri, Acting Director-General of Sharjah Police Forensic Laboratory, the stomach of the deceased had bloated due to decomposition.
According to the forensic report, some of the capsules burst inside the stomach resulting in his death.
The contents of the capsules were probably meant for refinement at a later stage or used for sniffing or injecting.
The police have launched efforts to trace those for whom the drugs had been smuggled into the country. Source
