Gang of four arrested for thefts in Bur Dubai

A gang of thieves, consisting of four Georgian men and a Russian woman, has been busted by the Dubai Police and stolen goods recovered from their possession.

The gang, according to police, had carried out eight thefts in a commercial area in Bur Dubai.

They had targeted shops that stocked jewellery, mobile phones, watches and crystalware and trading companies and small shops that had no security guards, police sources said.

On January 28, Bur Dubai Police Station received information about a series of thefts in a commercial centre in Bur Dubai area.

Investigations by CID officials revealed that in all the crimes the thieves had gone about their job in a highly professional manner without leaving any clues behind.

After sustained surveillance, CID teams managed to track down the thieves who lived in an apartment in the Budang area in Sharjah.

On January 30, around 4am, a Dubai Police team in coordination with Sharjah Police, raided the apartment and arrested four Georgian men, identified as B.T., B.M., J.K., and A.J., and the Russian woman, identified as A.S..

During the raid, stolen jewellery, cameras, mobile phones and watches were recovered.

The arrested have been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution for further investigations.

The police have asked the owners of shops and trading companies to identify their goods. Source
