Man stabbed in parking lot
Panic gripped residents of Al Habtoor Building on King Faisal Street when one of its residents was stabbed yesterday in the parking lot, while he was preparing to go to work.
He is currently admitted to the ICU of Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah, where doctors stated his condition to be critical.
The victim, a 57-year-old Sudanese veterinarian, was stabbed at around 7.45am. At the time, he was carrying a briefcase and was trying to open his car door.
Based on the description provided by the victim, three suspects have been arrested by the police and are currently being interrogated. The police said that theft could be the motive behind the crime. However, nothing was actually stolen from the site.
The Sudanese vet, Khaled Al Sinarry, suffered stab wounds in his right kidney which led to severe bleeding, sources at the hospital said.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Salwa, wife of the victim, said that on the fateful day her husband had left for office as usual. She, however, suddenly saw him back, opening the door and crawling on the floor with a lot of blood on his clothes.
“I was in a state of shock when my sister called the Al Gharb police station. The police arrived immediately and rushed my husband to the hospital,” she said.
There were no security guards around when the incident happened and the light of the parking lot was switched off, she said. “However, despite the darkness in the parking lot, my husband has identified the assailant, who, according to him, is of Asian origin with small eyes.”
Meanwhile, Fawzia, a resident of the building, said the building’s residents are all panic-stricken after the incident. “Everyone is in a state of fear, especially while in the three-storey parking lot in the building. There is no proper lighting in the parking lot. Also, there is no camera installed there,” she rued.
Mohammed. K, another resident, said in the absence of security guards, parking lots make people vulnerable. “I prefer to park my car on the street when I reach home late,” he revealed.
