Businessman, seven prostitutes jailed for running brothel
A businessman has been jailed for two years for running a brothel housing seven sex workers.
The workers - of whom two became pregnant prior to their arrest and gave birth in prison - received various jail terms.
The Dubai Court of First Instance placed the 37-year-old Iranian businessman, A.R., under two-year police supervision.
The court also sentenced 23-year-old Kazakh woman, T.M., to nine months in jail for assisting the businessman in running the brothel and having an illicit affair with an Arab man.
Five Russian women and one Kazakh woman were each sentenced to six months in jail for working as prostitutes. The eight accused will be deported after serving their jail terms.
The Iranian businessman denied the charges before the court earlier.
The 24-year-old Kazakh female, A.K., had an illicit affair with a compatriot man. She fell pregnant and failed to report her crime to the police.
A policeman who questioned one of the Russian women, identified as V.S., testified: "She confessed that the businessman brought her into Dubai on a visit visa after he promised her work as a waitress. She claimed that A.K. asked her to work as a prostitute for three months until she covered the value of her visa and air ticket. She agreed and gave the money to T.M. who in her turn gave it to the businessman."
The policeman said they arrested T.M. who confirmed V.S.'s statement and A.K. who admitted that the Iranian ran the brothel. Police arrested the rest of the suspects later. Source
