Newborn found abandoned

An 18-year-old Iraqi girl and a youth from Al Ain who is studying in a Dubai institution have been detained by Umm Al Quwain Police after a newborn baby was found abandoned on a chilly January 30 night.

The baby was found lying in a cane hamper in the Al Shabiya Al Beda area in Umm Al Quwain around 11pm. The new-born is currently recuperating in a hospital.

According to a source in the UAQ Police, the girl from Sharjah, identified as M.A., reportedly had an affair with a UAE national, identified as S.W. Their illicit relationship resulted in the girl’s pregnancy. When the girl confessed the matter to her parents, the latter tried to coax the man into marrying the girl. However, the man refused to do so.

The source added that finding no way, the girl befriended a youth from Al Ain, who promised to marry her, despite knowing about the girl’s pregnancy. The youth’s parents, apparently, agreed to the marriage.

In the meantime the girl delivered the baby and the couple abandoned the newborn. After investigations, the couple were taken into custody. The UAQ Police in coordination with Sharjah Police are now making efforts to locate the girl’s previous lover, who she claimed fathered the child.Technorati Profile Source
