Wife stabbed by her husband is held for adultery

Police have arrested a young woman for adultery who was caught by her husband having an affair with her lover, during their honeymoon.
The woman and her lover were repeatedly stabbed by the husband in a hotel room in Sharjah where they were spending their honeymoon. They were married few days ago, police said.
The 19-year-old from Khor Fakkan was married to her cousin. She was transferred from Al Qasimi hospital to Sharjah Central jail on Thursday.
Her lover is still in serious condition in the hospital and will be transferred to jail after his condition improves, police said. The public prosecutor is investigating the case of the woman and her 28-year-old lover who is also a father of two daughters. Both are accused of adultery.

The honeymoon turned tragic when the husband caught his wife in the arms of her lover and stabbed them several times with a knife snatched from a complimentary fruit basket.
The incident occurred on Monday. The husband informed police about the incident and is free on bail. He also informed the wife's brother about his attack.
Apparently the wife told her lover where they were staying and he booked a room in the same hotel. Source

Men locked up sister 'to defend honour'

Dubai: Two brothers have been found guilty of beating and locking up their sister in their family home, said a court yesterday.
Their lawyer claimed "they were defending their honour". Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the UAE national brothers, F.S., an engineer, and S.S., a police officer, to a six-month suspended imprisonment.
The defendants had confessed to beating their 35-year-old sister. The Public Prosecution charged them with beating their sister after locking her up. F.S. was acquitted of stealing her cell phone, valuables and some documents, including her marriage contract.

"The court suspended the imprisonment for three years. ... My clients were trying to save their sister from falling into unacceptable behaviour ... [they] found their sister staying in a Dh150,000 villa with a man they don't know," Mohammad Al Redha, of Al Redha and Co Advocates and Legal Consultants, told Gulf News yesterday. Source

Girl to receive 60 lashes for illicit sex

A teenage girl will receive 60 lashes for having illicit sex with a man, the Federal Supreme Court has confirmed.
The girl, identified as R.A., who was 14 -years-old when the incident occurred, had sex with a man, identified as H.S. R.A. had been meeting with H.S. in secret, she told the public prosecution. The prosecution accused the two of adultery and khulwa [illegally staying together in a private place without being related].
The Al Ain court of First Instance sentenced R.A. to 60 lashes. It also sentenced H.S. to six months in jail but acquitted him of adultery for lack of evidence. Source
